Prayer is a need within the Body of Christ. Throughout scriptures we see examples of people praying in the spirit. Jesus prays in the Spirit to the Father. Therefore, we are encouraged to also pray in the spirit.
Often, we may choose to pray silently, but it is not good to pray in public; especially in the case of intercession. The devil watch’s the intent of your heart and the passion of your prayer. This is why it is prudent to avoid unnecessary publicity regarding your private prayer life.
Many Christians, as they grow in their faith, begin to desire to speak negatively of others. In order for you to do this, you must bear in mind that although it is God’s desire to hear your prayers and treat them with the respect they deserve, sometimes, you may be keeping silent your desire to have a prayer life and go into secret practice. Although praying in the spirit is edifying for the individual that prays privately, there still remains the reality that the devil can easily sense what you are not saying. In times like these, prayers are to be uttered in the spirit with power under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
privately, we may talk about God’s forgiveness and the power with which we can be delivered from the bondage of sin, but we reveal what is has not changed. We reveal that we are human beings with all the same weaknesses as other people. We fail, sin and fall to times of abstinence, and we call these times all together, but together we are God’s children.
Do not reveal your desire to pray in the spirit to anyone, just because he may be a stranger to the tradition of faith that you adhere to. Even the very one that brings you to the secret practice of receiving your prayers will not reveal the magnitude of your shortcoming to you. This is why we must practice our prayers in secret. But, in society, some individual has the capability to share with others.
Some Christians are not close to God because of many reasons, but the main reason is that they are not submitted to the Almighty God. The bible tells us that the love of money is the root of all evil. (1Tim 6:10) If a believer belongs to theMercy WorkingChurch (also known as Prayer Ministry), he is extremely sensitive to the Holy Spirit. Even if he does not get everything that he desires, he prays the prayers for the desires of others. This is very good, but even better, he is submitted to the will of God.
A submitted heart (which is the heart set on the obedience of God’s word) shows itself in the way that we minister to those who are in need. We should give them God’s best in our prayer life. All fruits should be fruits of the Spirit and lasting. This is a fruits to be promoted by God to every faithful believer in Christ. (Gal 5:22-23)
Fasting in conjunction with prayer is an excellent additional measure to help us submit to the Holy Spirit in our lives and walk in obedience to God and His commands. (Heb 12:1-3) As we walk in obedience to God’s commands, at the same time we are being watchful to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit and to the gentle whisper of the conscience.
It is not an easy thing to submit and give up our ways of thinking, speaking and walking. The double-edged sword of the flesh always puts one flesh against another. Fasting helps us to fight flesh with flesh. mushrooms, sugar, and various other things, can all be useful in many things, but not if they are combined with occultism and witchcraft. (orcism)
With fasting and prayer we do not only discipline ourselves but we also eliminate the gifts of the Holy Spirit that are in us, and we begin to have fellowship with the Father. (Acts 10:38) Jesus said in Matthew 16:23 “And if thine eye offend thee, thee plucketh it out and casteth it from thee; and if thy foot offend thee, thou shalt pluck it out and cast it from thee”. Fasting and prayer destroys fleshly desires and appetites. If Jesus had attempted to fast Himself, He would have been unable to speak.
Fasting and prayer help us to put on the whole armor of God (by which we protect ourselves from the presence of evil) and His yoke of good thoughts. This can take place any time and in any place. Fasting can be practiced year-round and is a good way to get in touch with the Spirit of God and His requirements for our lives.
Many people practice fasting and prayer, but few are super-fast devotees.
