Christian Bible Study: Let this Mind be in You, which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, and took the form of a bondservant, and became obedient to the point of death, even the life of the flesh. (Heb 6:19-20 NIV)

In this passage we are specifically dealing with Christians who have entered into Christ’s death, as a result of his desire to offer himself as a sacrifice for all. Before revealing himself to humanity, Christ Jesus made a decision with his Father in which He was going to be crucified as a demonstration of his love for humanity.

Do we have to die to save our lives? Is this not a strange teaching for those who believe in a God and a Satan? Jesus’ death was a purposed effort to reconcile the perfect harmony that must exist if there is a demonstration of God’s love expressed in the death of one of his sons in our behalf.

And so, as Paul and Silas conclude their first stanza of the song that is destined to be the theme of the New Testament, we come to the act itself.

The very nature of blood makes it undeniably guilty. Without that reminder, we would not stop praising the Just One. Consider this:

And without faith it is impossible to please him, for he who comes to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him. (Heb 11:6)

So, the moment we touch the covered palm with which both victim and victor have touched together, a holy war broke out in the heavens. The war, defined as a time of spiritual purification that must be won, is won in relation to the shedding of blood. In this case it was the blood of the sacrifice of the Lamb.

Not only did the saints of old shed their blood for the redemption of the human race, but they also, as Christ tells us, practiced bloodletting. Jn 3:16

While most people are familiar with the story of the casting of lots, there is an ancient esoteric version of the same story that is found in some Eastern teachings as well. In these ancient tales, Lot’s wife takes a bite of the forbidden fruit and since the fruit was not eatingable for She-Who-Is-Alone, she was Turned into a pillar of salt. This story corresponds with the cast of lots (the Bible does refer to such a casting as happened in Numbers 22:13 as did occur in Deuteronomy 11:18-21).

In some esoteric teachings it is intended that a practitioner would make a commitment to take a certain amount of blood from an incense burner and that each time the blood was withheld, the amount of blood would diminish until the implement is withdrawn completely. Lot’s wife was Turned into a pillar of salt because of the number of times her blood was withheld. It is unknown if Lot continued with this practice or if he found some other way to indicate that his blood was indeed becoming supper.

In the King James Version of the book of 1 Samuel 5:24 it reads as follows…

So David rose and went to the place of Ephrathah, and there he lay, and fell down upon the ground and prayed, saying, “Awake up, awake, O Lord, my soul aches; my eyes perish from sleep. Selah.”… And the Lord answered him, saying, “Are you sure that the thing which you wish, considering the degree of wickedness with which you have troubleitated me, is not grievous enough? “I will tilt your ear, and will declare it before you:” (KJV)

The original context of this passage is…, “Have you ever thought that the condition of your health or wealth is the result of bad psychological and emotional impressions that Shadows upon the road of life? The mental health of people in general does not necessarily reflect emotional and therefore psychological imbalances.
